This guide helps you get the most out of DubDeal. Find answers below.
Understanding Post Types
Choose the right post type:
- Jobs: Post if you are hiring for a role (e.g., "Full-time Plumber needed"). Specify Full/Part-Time and Salary/Rate.
- Leads: Post if you need a professional for a specific task (e.g., "Need electrician to fix lights"). Pros contact you. When creating a Lead, you can also upload up to 4 photos of the job to show professionals what's required.
- Services: Post if you are a professional/company advertising your skills (e.g., "Professional Tiling Services").
- Seeking Job: Post if you are looking for work, showcasing your skills and availability.
- Special Deal (Premium Only): Post limited-time offers (e.g., "15% off painting this week").
Your Account & Profile
Manage your presence on DubDeal:
- Account Types: 'Regular' for individuals/sole traders. 'Company' for registered businesses.
- Editing: Go to "My Profile" to update your 'About', contact info, and privacy settings.
- Privacy: Control phone/email visibility in your profile's "Privacy Settings" section.
- Logo (Premium/Company): Upload a logo via "My Profile" -> "Account Status" section to enhance brand visibility. Control its visibility on posts via the toggle in the same section.
- Profile Speciality: On your own profile, click the 'Edit' icon next to "Speciality" to select your trade (e.g., "Plumber", "Electrician") from a predefined list or specify your own if you select "Other".
Members Page
Find other users in the community:
- Access: Click the "Members" button in the header (requires login).
- Search: Look for users by username, email, or phone number.
- Filters & Sort: Use the filters to show specific account types or sort the list.
- View Profile: Click on a member's name to visit their profile page.
- Online Status: See who is currently 'Online' (green) or 'Offline' (red) via the status indicator next to their name.
Invoice & Quotation Generator
Access the generator via the "Invoice" button in the header (requires login).
- Toggle Type: You can switch between creating an 'Invoice' or a 'Quotation'. The labels (e.g., "Due Date" vs. "Valid Until") will update automatically.
- Load Info: Use the "Load My Info" button to pre-fill your details directly from your user profile.
- Add Items: Add as many line items as you need. The totals will calculate automatically.
- VAT: Set your desired VAT rate, and the subtotal, VAT amount, and total will update.
- Logo & Signature: You can optionally upload your company logo and add a digital signature, which will be saved for this session.
- Generate PDF: Click "Generate PDF" to create and download your professional document.
Messaging System
- Contacting Users: Use the message button on posts (if enabled by the poster). Premium users can also contact other Premium users directly from their profile page if that user has enabled 'Allow direct profile contact' in their privacy settings. Note: Contacting users on 'Lead' posts also requires a Premium account.
- Inbox: Access all your conversations via the "Conversations" section on the "My Profile" page. Unread messages are indicated by an orange dot next to the conversation and a notification badge on the "My Profile" button.
- Persistence: Conversations remain visible in your inbox even if the associated post or the other user's account is deleted. They will be marked as '[Deleted Post]' or '[Deleted User]'.
- Blocked Users: You cannot send messages to users you have blocked or who have blocked you. A message indicating this will appear in the chat window.
- Hiding Conversations: Click the 'X' button next to a conversation's date in your inbox to hide it from view. This only affects your view and cannot currently be undone easily.
Blocking Users
Control who you interact with:
- How to Block/Unblock: Visit another user's profile page, click the options menu ('...') button, and select 'Block User' or 'Unblock User'. You will be asked to confirm this action.
- Effects of Blocking: When you block a user:
- You will no longer see their posts in the main feed.
- You cannot send messages to them, and they cannot send messages to you.
- They will not be notified that you have blocked them.
- Managing Blocks: You can see a list of users you have blocked in the "Blocked Users" section on your own profile page. You can unblock users from this list or from their profile page.
Holiday Mode
Need to take a break? Activate Holiday Mode from your profile:
- Go to "My Profile" -> "Privacy Settings".
- Click "Set Availability".
- Choose your unavailable dates (start and end). Note: End date must be on or after the start date.
- Optionally add a public message (e.g., "On annual leave, will reply after I return.").
- Click "Save & Activate".
- While active, other users viewing your profile will see a notice with your dates and message (if provided). Most other profile details (like About, non-public contact info) will be hidden.
- Turn it off anytime by clicking the "Mode Active" button in your Privacy Settings and then clicking "Turn Off Mode".
Premium Accounts
Upgrade to unlock exclusive benefits:
- View Lead Contacts: See phone/email on 'Lead' posts and message the poster.
- Increased Post Limit: Post up to 5 active ads (Regular/Self-Employed). Contact us for Company limits.
- Longer Post Duration: Posts last 40 days (vs 15 days free).
- Featured Posts: Your Job, Service, and Seeking Job posts get a highlighted orange background automatically.
- Profile & Post Logo: Display your uploaded logo on your profile and posts.
- Post Special Deals: Create eye-catching promotional offers.
- Free Trial: New users automatically get a 7-day free trial after email verification!
Safety & Community Feedback
Help keep DubDeal professional:
- Voting: Use the ↑ (upvote) / ↓ (downvote) buttons on posts. Posts with high positive ratings get highlighted. Posts with significant negative feedback may be reviewed or automatically removed. You can only vote once per post.
- User Ratings: After interacting with a user, you can rate them 1-5 stars on their profile page. This helps build trust in the community. You can only rate a specific user once.
- Reporting: Use the report button (⚠️ icon) on posts for spam, fraud, inappropriate content, or other violations. Select a reason and submit. Multiple reports trigger review.
- Safe Practices: Be cautious online. Always review profiles and ratings before committing to work or payment. Use clear written agreements for significant jobs. Never share bank passwords, full credit card numbers, or sensitive personal IDs (like PPS numbers). Consider meeting in public for initial interactions if necessary. Trust your instincts!
- Review Photos: For 'Lead' posts that include photos (indicated by a 'View Photos' button), review them carefully to understand the job scope before making an offer.
